In September 2015, Realogistics International (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (“Realogistics Beijing”) was commissioned by a customer to export its transformer to Basra, Iraq by air.

1. Description of goods: Transformers and cables

2. Dimensions of goods: over-sized goods at L2.95*W170*H283cm

3. Difficulties in operation:

1) Iraq is a war-torn country, and there is rarely any airliner undertaking goods of relevant routes, which sets forth high requirements in selecting airliner and cargo space;

2) The goods is in Beijing without direct flight to Baghdad;

3) The goods is oversized and cables tend to roll in transport, requiring very professional package and lashing.

4. Operating procedures:

1) The customer was advised to choose Shanghai for departure as no applicable flight was available in Beijing;

2) We selected the most appropriate airliner for the customer based on actual situations of the goods.

3) We prepared professional package that meets the airliner’s requirements for the customer, ensuring safety in the transport process.

i. Batch I: Transformers

The transformer unpacked was sent to the Shanghai warehouse of Realogistics. To reduce transport risks, the warehouse staff supported the bottom of the goods, filled the bottom gap with pillows and protected the cabinet periphery with wooden framework.

ii. Batch II: Cables

To prevent cables from rolling during transport, Realogistics staff padded a rectangular wooden frame on the bottom of the goods and fastened it with the cable reel with tapes.
